Paint Artist

DESCRIPTION:
As a Paint Artist, you will be responsible for digital paint work in post-production, specifically focusing on frame-by-frame clean-up, wire/rig removal, and touch-up of visual effects shots. Your keen eye for detail and ability to match the creative vision will ensure that final shots are polished and seamless.
Role & Responsibilities:
- Clean-Up & Restoration: Perform digital paint tasks including the removal of rigs, wires, markers, and other unwanted elements from footage.
- Frame-by-Frame Touch-Up: Handle intricate clean-up work on a per-frame basis to ensure continuity and high-quality results.
- Matte Creation & Retouching: Collaborate with compositors and other artists to create or retouch mattes for final compositing.
- Seamless Integration: Ensure all paint work blends seamlessly with the original footage while maintaining visual continuity across shots.
- Collaborate with VFX Team: Work closely with the compositing and VFX teams to maintain consistency and quality across the project.
- Adhere to Deadlines: Complete paint tasks efficiently while adhering to production schedules and maintaining a high standard of work.
- Review and Revise: Participate in regular review sessions to receive feedback and make necessary revisions.
Skills & experience required to Succeed in this role:
- Experience: 1-5 years of experience as a Paint Artist in the VFX or CGI industry.
- Software Proficiency: Strong knowledge of industry-standard software such as Nuke, Photoshop, Silhouette, or similar digital paint tools.
- Detail-Oriented: Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to perform precise, high-quality paint work.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to troubleshoot and creatively solve paint-related challenges.
- Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively within a team, while managing time and priorities independently.
- Portfolio: A portfolio or demo reel showcasing relevant paint and clean-up work in VFX is required.
Preferred Skills:
- Compositing Knowledge: Basic understanding of compositing workflows and techniques is a plus.
- Familiarity with Shotgun/Production Tracking Tools: Experience using Shotgun or other project management tools for tracking work.
- Artistic Background: A background in traditional art or painting is advantageous but not required.
